April 2026

Welcome to the new edition of the Cambridge International Online Schools Newsletter!

In this edition, we share updates from across the online schools community, including the successful completion of our first remote invigilation trial, reminders on using our brand correctly, new resources and insights, plus highlights from our podcast and school spotlight series. We also share important upcoming dates, alongside opportunities to connect with colleagues. Previous newsletters can be found here.

Successful completion of our first remote invigilation trial

We are pleased to share the successful completion of our first remote invigilation trial. A small number of invited schools participated, with students completing mock examinations across a range of Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A Level subjects. The trial provided valuable feedback from both students and teachers, which will help shape and strengthen the next iteration of our remote invigilation approach.

Using the Cambridge brand correctly

During a recent review, we noticed that many Cambridge Online Schools were not always using our logo and branding in the correct way across their websites and marketing materials. Thank you to the schools that took the time to complete the brand survey — your input has helped us better understand where clearer guidance is needed.

The most common issues we saw included using an incorrect version of the logo, placing it directly alongside a school’s own logo, and — for online-only schools — not displaying the required accompanying text: “[Your School name here] is a registered online Cambridge International School."

Please refer to the full logo guidelines in the boxes below and use the example shown here as a reference to ensure your school is using the brand correctly.

Online School spotlight: Leading the Way with AI at Minerva Virtual Academy

This term, our spotlight shines on Minerva Virtual Academy, who have become one of the first online schools in the world to appoint a dedicated AI Lead — a role designed to ensure artificial intelligence is used in ways that are ethical, safe and genuinely beneficial for teaching and learning.

In the full article, Bethany Ewen-Firman explains why her role was created in response to the rapid rise of AI in education, what an AI Lead actually does in practice, and how this focused leadership is helping the school build a culture of responsible AI use among both staff and students.
